LIFE Programme in Bulgaria – 30 years of nature protection
A new forest appeared between Hristo Minchev and Ivan Vazov streets in General Toshevo. On a site provided by the municipality,30 trees of different species were planted, thus the foresters of the Northeast celebrated 30 years of work with the LIFE Programme in Bulgaria. The idea for the beautiful new forest came from the foresters of State Hunting Unit – Balchik and the State Forestry Unit – General Toshevo, who are involved in the implementation of two major LIFE projects – the Lands and Forests of the Eagle and Forests of the Northeast.
Experts from the Regional Forestry Directorate -Varna, General Toshevo Municipality, the Regional Police Department in the town and children from the kindergarten „Prolet“ took part in the campaign of the foresters to celebrate the LIFE Programme anniversary and the Forest Week.
The seedlings for the new forest were donated by State Hunting Unit Balchik and were grown in the nursery of the unit.
