Three important topics for the practice of forestry were discussed at the training held today in DGS-Dobrich on the projects under the LIFE program, on which the SIDP is working.
The first topic was related to the drying of the ash belts, which is a problem not only for Dobrich, but also for Balchik and General Toshevo. Foresters discussed the monitoring that has been done in recent years of these important linear facilities, its results and the short-term and long-term measures planned. The Director of Forestry, Eng. Tsanko Nikolov, informed his colleagues what has been done so far to deal with the problem, how the belts are managed, how they are restored and what is still to come in order to preserve this network, which is important for agriculture, biodiversity. European funding through projects under the Environmental Operational Program and LIFE is also important for all foresters from the farm, thanks to which the dry belts will be reforested.
At the second site, the meeting participants visited a department where regenerative felling in a coppice cer is inferred. Foresters commented on the condition of these forests in Dobrudja, as well as the requirements of the felling ordinance and the Forest Law.
The third important topic of the meeting was related to the introduction of cuttings in mixed cultures of red oak and linden. Experts from the Regional Directorate of Forests-Varna, who traditionally participate in the meetings on marking in Dobrich, took part in the debate on each of the topics, led by the Director of the Directorate, Eng. Todor Gichev.
