Forest Pedagogy classes in Provadia are held in a real natural history museum
2,500 children from the districts of Shumen and Varna have participated in Forest Pedagogy lessons held since June 1st. These lessons are organized every weekday in different cities across the Northeast. This week, experts from Shumen plateau Nature Park and Northeastern State Enterprise exchanged experiences with Eng. Asen Hristov – forest pedagogue at the Provadia State Forestry Unit. The teachers studied and had fun with the children from the Kindergarten „Spring“, as the kids easily coped with all the tasks in the „Book for the forest“. The lesson was held under the project „Forests of the Northeast“ implemented by the Northeastern State Enterprise.
Several years ago, in the building of the State Forestry Unit – Provadia Eng. Hristov established a natural history museum. It hosts lessons with higher-grade students who are interested in already extinct plant and animal species, whose fossils Eng. Asen Hristov discovered during his travels around the country. In the auditorium one can see minerals, stuffed animals and birds, insects, as well as semi-precious stones from the Rhodope mountains.
Next week, forest pedagogues from Shumen will visit their colleagues in the towns of Tervel and Novi Pazar, where they will hold lessons with the higher-grade children in the kindergartens of the two municipalities.
