Forest pedagogues visited the children at „Brothers Grimm“ kindergarten in Shumen
60 children at „Brothers Grimm“ kindergarten in Shumen took part in a lesson in Forest Pedagogy developed by Alexandrina Kareva from the State Forestry Unit in Smyadovo. Part of the lesson is based on the Book of the Forest published by the Northeastern State Enterprise, which acquaints children with the life of trees and the efforts of foresters to protect forests in a funny and accessible way. Alex’s book consists coloring pages, appliques, stickers and tasks that children can complete on their own if they are careful during the class. There is a game to each page of the book making it easier for kids to remember the lessons they are being taught.
„Book for the forest“ and the lesson on forest pedagogy on „Creating and preserving forests“ is targeting children from the last groups of kindergarten. The book has been published in a circulation of 1,000 copies and when the pandemic situation allows, forest pedagogues will again visit with lessons the children from the town of Shumen and the region.
The objective of the new lesson is to promote the work under the project „Forests of the Northeast“ which foresees the recreation of 2,000 acres of new forests.
