A working meeting of the LIFE19NAT/BG/001133-LIFE IASHAB project team will be held on April 25-26, 2024. During the meeting, the achieved results, the problems and the expected finalisation of the project towards the end of this year will be discussed. During the two working days, all sites will be visited, where afforestation has taken place or will take place within the framework of the project.
The aim of the project is to eliminate invasive species on the territory of the Northeast and to restore the natural forest ecosystems. The removal of plantations of invasive alien species and the restoration of forests typical for the area are among the key measures to adapt to the climate change and to protect biodiversity at EU level. The restoration of the field protection belts, as well as the creation of new ones, is also a priority for Bulgaria and the region, where, in this regard, joint cooperation work will take place with experts from Romania, for whom the dry winds in Dobrudzha, the reduction of soil moisture and the wind erosion of the soil are also a big problem.
