1,000 children took part in Forest Pedagogy lessons in two weeks
Experts from the Northeastern State Enterprise, State Forestry Unit – Shumen and Nature Park „Shumen Plateau“ conducted series of lessons with children from local kindergartens and schools. Forest pedagogues visited kindergarten „Dr. Petar Beron“ in Varna, kindergartens „Snezhanka“ in Veliki Preslav, the Shumen kindergartens „Bratya Grim“, „Kosmonavt“, „Svetulka“ and „Zlatna Ribka“ as well as Dimitar Blagoev Primary School. In the last two weeks nearly 1,000 children have gone through the training using the specially published „Book of the Forest“ which was created by forest pedagogue Alexandra Kareva and through which children learn more about the forestry profession, forest inhabitants as well as which are the good and bad activities in forests. The children were introduced in a fun way to the project of the Northeast State Enterprise „Forests of the Northeast“ which will reconstruct 200 ha of invasive species plantations and field protection belts in poor state.
Interest classes were also held in the administrative center of „Shumen Plateau“ Nature Park. They were attended by third and fourth graders from „Panayot Volov“ High School in Shumen, as well as sixth grade students at the Second Primary School „Dr. Petar Beron“ Shumen.
During the summer months, forest educators will conduct summer classes for groups of children organized upon prior request.
